Hermine May Bring High Winds and Tidal Flooding to Delmarva This Weekend

WORK2

This is the NHC track as of 5 PM. It is very close to almost all the numerical models.

WORK

The track of Tropical Storm Hermine has shifted much farther inland this evening and there is high agreement on this among the different numerical models this evening. This increases the risk of wind and rain here on Delmarva Saturday. Coastal flooding cannot be ruled out and some areas may see significant rains depending on the track and speed of Hermine. It’s possible that the center of the storm will pass over Delmarva and bring gusts to over 50 mph.

If the track does not change and Hermine continues to strengthen, a Tropical Storm Watch for Delmarva will be needed sometime Thursday, and then a Tropical Storm Warning Friday. Winds and seas will begin to increase after dark Friday and the increase will be rapid by Saturday morning. There is still a high degree of uncertainty in this forecast, and we will post updates frequently at wboc.com/weather and on our social media platforms.
