We will see a mild Christmas on Delmarva, but some rain will arrive on Christmas Eve with rain amounts generally under .35 inches. Skies will clear around dark on Saturday, just in time for Santa, and Christmas day looks mainly sunny with highs near 50. Look for even milder air next week before a stronger cold front brings chilly air again next Wednesday.

In the High Arctic, the temperatures have been astonishingly warm this week with a buoy near the North Pole getting above freezing on Thursday. This is more than 50 degrees F. above normal. Arctic Sea ice continues at record low levels and has even melted back some in the last few days, something nearly unheard of in late December. The rapid drop in ice extent continues and is happening faster than most models have predicted, due to the warming climate.
